Alumni News

Steve Garrison, a '93 BDIC graduate, has just published his first book.  It is called At Your Service, A Service Guide to Maximum Table Performance.  Already, Steve says, the book is in high demand at restaurants that want to improve the level of service to their customers.  He is also hoping to sell the book as a textbook to Hotel, Restaurant, and Travel departments at universities around the country.
Steve's BDIC concentration was in "Sales and Interper

sonal Relations," and he is pleased that now that he is out in the working world he is utilizing the very same skills he acquired through his degree.  He is interested in talking with current BDIC students and would be happy to offer his suggestions to those in his area of interest.  He can be emailed at:  stephenagarrison@aol.com.  Steve's website can be found at:  A Server's Guide.com.  Steve will, hopefully, be attending the Spring Projects Fair in May 2002 along with many

other interesting and successful alumni.
Jeremy Gaucher, BDIC '00, majored in "Arts Administration" while at BDIC.  He is now working in his field at MassMoca (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art in North Adams, MA).  He recently sent us a notice regarding an internship opportunity in Arts Administration.  If you are interested, please contact:

Profiles of BDIC Student Staff
Jonathan Mello--BDIC Office Assistant

My name is Jonathan Mello and I am in my third year at Umass.  I have been involved with the BDIC program as an office assistant and receptionist since my first year at the school.  In spite of not being enrolled as a BDIC major, I have come to acquire a great deal

of knowledge about the program over the course of my two years here and enjoy answering any questions current or prospective students may have.  I am, in fact, enrolled as a history major and am also in the process of applying to an education program in order

to pursue a career in secondary education.  I am a Massachusetts native and enjoy sports and music when I am not working, studying, or attending class.  I look forward to seeing you all around the office.
