Join the UMass Amherst Campus in celebrating the Inauguration of Chancellor Subbaswamy, 30th leader of the Flagship campus! This event is free and open to the public. Please stay after the ceremony for a reception on the Mullins Center Concourse.

We are very proud of six of our BDIC Students who have been selected as 2013 UMass Amherst Alumni Association Scholarship and Award Recipients:

Karina Lopez '14 has been awarded the Michael W. Morris Scholarship

Emma Mulvaney '15 has been awarded the Alumni Merit-Based SAA Scholarship

The BDIC Senior Celebration will take place Saturday, May 11th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Campus Center Auditorium. At the BDIC event we recognize graduating seniors in a special and individualized way. Each new graduate will be called to the stage in a ceremony that recognizes the work your student has done to reach this great milestone. This BDIC ceremony is not meant to replace the University Commencement, and we encourage students – and their families! – to attend both events.


In March of 2013, the BDIC Program was fortunate enough to send a cohort to Denver, CO to partake in the Fifth Annual Individualized Major Program National Conference hosted by Metropolitan State University-Denver. Director Michael Sugerman and Professor Susan Ware, along with five of the BDIC Peer Advisors, participated in the three-day event and represented BDIC in a conference filled with both well-established and newly founded programs from across the country.

BDIC proposal applications are due on or before November 15, 2012 for entry into the Spring 2013 Proposal Writing class. This is a mandatory class to get into the BDIC major.
